"We are close to our minimum $2,000 in fundraising in order for LSSM to participate in Ride for Refuge October 1," said Dana Doll (photo, right), refugee case worker in the Grand Rapids office of Lutheran Social Services of Michigan. The group has raised $1,820 so far and needs help to be able to participate. Dana is an optimist. "I'm still going to hold out for us reaching our original goal of $5,000 before Saturday to go toward our Match Grant program," she said.
Dana points out that there is time to sign up and ride and get your sponsors for Team LSSM. "Among our riders, we have a Christian School in Hudsonville riding with us, we have a church team, and we have two refugee clients who are riding with us. We also just got a bike loaned for the weekend for a caseworker from Freewheeler bike shop."
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP US?
1) Sign up to ride. Contact Dana Doll for more information at ddoll@lssm.org or call 616-916-5770.
2) Sponsor a rider, like LSSM refugee client Rodrigue Nyamwoga who is riding for LSSM and still needs sponsorship: http://my.e2rm.com/personalPage.aspx?registrationID=1187558&langPref=en-CA&Referrer=http%3a%2f%2fwww.rideforrefuge.org%2fpartner%2flssmrefugees
3) Spread the word. Tell your friends, family and coworkers (via phone, email, Twitter and Facebook, etc.) about this opportunity to get involved in supporting Lutheran Social Services of Michigan (www.lssm.org) and the work we are doing for our refugees in West Michigan.
4) Cheer on the riders during the ride, which starts and ends at Byron Center Christian School.
HOPE YOU CAN JOIN US FOR THIS EXCITING DAY.
