MapleCreek will welcome Larry Minnix, president of LeadingAge (formerly American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, or AAHSA), on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, for lunch and a tour. It is a great honor to be one of only two area senior living communities to be shown to Mr. Minnix during his visit from Washington, D.C. Earlier in the day, he will speak on CEOs and Boards and how to work together for successful innovation at the 2011 Aging Services of Michigan annual conference, being held this week at the AmWay Grand Plaza Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids.

LeadingAge is an association of 5,400 not-for-profit organizations dedicated to expanding the world of possibilities for aging, including research that supports, enables and empowers people to live life fully as they age. The association offers a strong and distinct voice for not-for-profit members and leads in practices that transform how organizations serve the aging population, meet the needs and preferences of older adults, and promote advocacy in support of the aging citizen.

The CEO of Aging Services of Michigan, Dave Herbel, made the special arrangements for the luncheon and tour at MapleCreek for Larry Minnix, plus a stop at another senior community before he heads to the airport for his return to the nation's capitol.
