MapleCreek invites the Grand Rapids community to meet with U.S. Representative Justin Amash, from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011. “We will welcome Congressman Amash to MapleCreek for an open Town Hall Meeting,” said Sarah Bugg Duthie, manager of Catered Living. “All are invited to this community event in Trinity Chapel at The Terraces at MapleCreek." Jordan Bush, U.S. Rep. Amash’s deputy district director in Grand Rapids, will also attend.
Congressman Amash will speak briefly and then will answer questions from those in attendance. “We highly encourage questions from anyone attending,” Duthie said. “We hope that our MapleCreek residents, family members, staff and citizens from the surrounding community will take advantage of this opportunity to connect with Congressman Amash, our representative in Washington, D.C. Please join us!” MapleCreek is a non-partisan senior living community and invites visits from all federal, state, county and local government representatives, regardless of political affiliation.
Rep. Amash serves on the House Budget Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. He is expecting to address the health plan enacted by Congress last year, particularly the provisions that apply to seniors; entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid; U.S. Rep. Amash’s policies on energy resources, natural resources and the environment; and reducing the nation’s budget deficit. Questions on other topics are welcome.
OPEN TO THE GREATER GRAND RAPIDS COMMUNITY.
