MapleCreek's bi-weekly Farmer's Market returns May 5

The MapleCreek Farmer's Market returns 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, May 5, bringing friends and neighbors and staff together around tables of mouth-watering goods. It will run every other week through October. Vendors will display their wares in the east parking lot at MapleCreek, 2000 32nd Street SE, between Kalamazoo Ave. and Breton Rd.

Kicking off the season will be six vendors selling fruits, vegetables, health food snacks, honey, beeswax, homemade and other soaps, a variety of pies and baked goods, jams, body butters and teas. Missing will be MapleCreek volunteer Mary Pensyl and her business, Flowers by Bert & Beth, but she should return to the market in June. The residents and staff at MapleCreek will be joined by some of the folks in the thousands of cars that pass by or who make a point of shopping at MapleCreek every other Thursday this season.

More vendor spaces are available without charge. “If you've ever wanted to try selling your produce and crafts at a farmer's market, this is a good way to try it out," said Melissa Johnson, Life Enrichment Coordinator for The Terraces at MapleCreek and the organizer of the Farmer's Market. For information and to apply to participate, contact Melissa by calling 616-284-5705 or by email at mjohn@lssm.org.
