LSSM Champion: Tracey Newman

by Ben Potter 13. April 2011 15:25

Every week we will now begin showcasing staff, clients and anyone else we think is a LSSM Champion. Someone who represents our service, mission and vision. You will be able to see each LSSM champion featured proudly on our homepage. You can read their stories here, at the LSSM Blog. The very first LSSM Champion we are featuring is Tracey Newman:

Tracey Newman

With the help of Heartline, a program for women coming out of prison, Tracey Newman has turned her life around. Tracey, 40, had been in and out of trouble with the law since she was 16. Drug addiction had her living on the streets for years. Now she has a job, is studying for a certificate in addiction studies at Wayne County Community College and is rebuilding her relationship with her two children, now in high school and college. Heartline works because the staff treat the women there with respect, she says. “They don’t try to force things on you. They give you the tools you need and take the time to listen and help you find solutions. There’s a lot of love there.”
