MapleCreek will host its traditional annual Black History Month Celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, in Trinity Chapel at The Terraces. Our special guests will be Grand Valley State University faculty member Diane Green-Smith (photo, right) and her husband, community leader John Smith.
Kenyana "Kiki" Gary, activity director at The Lodge, helped to plan this gathering. She explained that Diane and John have traveled extensively to Africa. The couple will speak about black history in America in light of the different cultures they experienced among the peoples of Africa.
Inspiring music will be performed by two groups, the Ottawa Hills High School Choir and the Kingdom Life Ministries Choir (photo, left). This event is free. All are welcome.
