Lutheran Adoption Service adoptions keep children in the family

On Friday afternoon, Nov. 19, 2010, Ellen Markiewicz became adoptive “mother” to her 8-year-old granddaughter Ayalah in a hearing before the Honorable Susan E. Beebe in Jackson County Court. Next, Ellen’s daughter Nicole adopted Ayalah’s 3-year-old brother, Kaden.

The ladies were both present for the birth of each child and have been involved in their lives from the beginning. “The children are able to see each other every day, but they also get the individualized attention of a parent that they both need,” Ellen said.

Lutheran Adoption Service (www.lasadoption.org) helped these ladies through the adoption process. “It’s not easy,” Ellen admitted, “but I knew deep down, I had to do this. These children are our family. My heart goes out to those who adopt the children of strangers. We are very thankful to Lutheran Adoption Service for helping us give Ayalah and Kaden what they need – a loving ‘forever family.’”
