Jeanne Fowler, founder of Big Family of Michigan, will be the featured speaker at a training semina on home visiting for child welfare workers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, October 29 at University Lutheran Church in East Lansing. Drawing on her own experiences as a foster child, Fowler will focus on child safety and preventing abuse and neglect, and will teach what to look for when visiting the homes of birth and foster parents. Child welfare workers from all over the state have been invited. This training is mandatory for all LSSM foster care, licensing and adoption case workers. There is a charge for those not employed by Lutheran Social Services. About 150 people are expected.
