A group of teens and their adult mentors from the Southeast Pennsylvania Synod, ELCA, spent time at Gateshead Crossing in Detroit last week as part of their annual summer servant trip. The five high school students and three adults were part of a larger group of 60 who spent 10 days in the Detroit area – five of them doing work projects and the rest of the time sightseeing and having fun. Overnight the group stayed at Christ Iroquois Avenue Lutheran Church in Detroit. At Gateshead the teens planted vegetables and flowers and pulled weeds from established beds. They also helped with an ice cream social.
