Happy birthday, Alma!

Alma King, a resident at Luther Manor in Saginaw, celebrated her 100th birthday November 18. Alma was born in Alexandria, Louisiana. She and her husband, Julius, had 11 children, seven boys and four girls. A quiet woman with a wonderful smile, Alma moves about the building independently in her wheelchair. Family members visit her every day, reports Luther Manor Activities Director Nancy Abbott. They gathered on Saturday to celebrate her 100-year milestone.

Sequoia Place centenarian

Sequoia Place, an apartment community for seniors in Ann Arbor, held a birthday breakfast on Monday, July 19 to honor resident Emily Bradfield, who turned 100. Shown the the photo with her daughter Barbara, Emily has lived at Sequoia Place since 1997, and according to those who know her, "always has a smile and a kind word for everyone."
