For all full-time and part-time employees, LSSM offers the following contributory benefits:

Medical Insurance - Employees may choose from a Priority Health PPO or HMO plan. Both plans contain prescription drug coverage. The organization and the employee contribute to these plans, with the amount determined by the employee's years of service. -
Basic Life Insurance - LSSM provides every full- and part-time employee with basic life insurance equal to his/her annual salary rounded to the highest thousand ($10,000 minimum). -
Annual Leave Plan - Paid time off from work consists of a two part system comprised of a Personal Leave Plan (PLP) and a Short- Term Disability Plan (STD). Accruals are based on job category and are calculated on the basis of hours worked each pay. - PLP is used for both scheduled and unscheduled paid days away from work for personal reasons. Accruals begin upon hire and hours may be used after 90 days of service. - STD accrual provides for income security in case of an extended or emergency non-work related injury/illness. STD time may be used after one full year of service. -
Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) - Ability Assist program (part of The Hartford company) offers confidential services to employees and their families via phone or face-to-face visits on a variety of issues including: emotional, financial and legal counseling, substance abuse information, child and elder care information and resources, marital and family counseling, work-life consultations. Premiums are paid by Lutheran Social Services.
LSSM also offers the following voluntary coverage, where the premiums are paid by the employee:
- Retirement Plan - This plan is available at time of hire (no waiting period), and any time thereafter, to all full-time/part-time employees 18 years and older. This plan is an Employee Pre-Tax Salary Reduction Contribution with an Employer Match after one year of service. Agency match of 375% is based on employee's chosen bi-weekly contribution up to 1.5% of gross salary.
- Dental Insurance - The Delta Dental program assists in the maintenance of good oral health for employees and their families and provides the freedom to choose any dentist.
- Vision Insurance - EyeMed Vision Care’s Network consists of private practicing optometrists, ophthalmologists, and opticians.
- Supplemental Life Insurance - In addition to the basic life insurance paid for by the organization, employees may purchase an equal amount of life insurance (supplemental coverage).
- Spousal Life Insurance - Employees may also elect to purchase spousal life insurance in increments of $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000. A spouse can be covered for up to 50% of the employee’s salary.
- Long Term Disability (LTD) Insurance - Full time employees may also elect to purchase LTD. If you are unable to work due to a qualified disabling condition, the plan will pay up to 60% of your basic monthly earnings after a six month waiting period.
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) - FSA can be used with or without PPO or HMO medical plans. The FSA can be elected even if employees do not take LSSM's medical insurance. Debit cards are issued to those who elect the health FSA.
- Health Care Spending Account - Up to $3,000 to be spent on items not covered by regular medical insurance (deductibles, copays, Rx, many over-the-counter drugstore items). - Dependent Care Account - Up to $5,000 to cover expenses related to care at a licensed center for children or adult dependents.
